Medical Jet Crash in Northeast Philadelphia Claims Six Lives

Philadelphia, PA - January 31, 2025 - A devastating plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia Friday afternoon has claimed the lives of all six people aboard a medical jet. The aircraft, a Learjet 55 operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, went down shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, impacting a residential neighborhood near Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue. The crash ignited a large explosion and subsequent fire, damaging several homes and vehicles.   





The plane was carrying a pediatric patient, her escort, and four crew members. Tragically, all six individuals perished in the crash. While initial reports suggest injuries to individuals on the ground, the extent of those injuries remains unclear at this time.   

"This is a horrific tragedy," stated a visibly shaken resident of the affected neighborhood. "We heard a loud explosion and then saw flames and smoke. It was terrifying."

Firefighters and other emergency responders rushed to the scene to battle the blaze and provide assistance. Investigators are expected to be on the scene for several days, meticulously examining the wreckage and gathering evidence.   

"We are committed to conducting a thorough and comprehensive investigation to determine the factors that contributed to this tragic accident," said an NTSB spokesperson. "Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who were lost."

The crash has sent a wave of grief through the Philadelphia community. Mayor [Name] issued a statement expressing condolences to the victims' families and thanking first responders for their swift action. "Philadelphia mourns the loss of these lives," the statement read. "We stand together as a community to support those affected by this tragedy."
